Retired CIO. When I went to school CS was a addendum to an EE degree. First program was IBM 360 assembly language using punch cards on a model 29 punch card machine.

Use PCI Ethernet Card with Arduino @01100011_0101011_0101011 Return thr Inland card and get an Ethernet Shield or become intimate with the PCI Specification. |

Is Rg, calculated in the linked PDF calculating the pulldowm/pullup resistor for a MOSFET gate? WOW! Stirred up a (friendly) hornet's nest. But the discourse is enlightening. I think I'll leave this open for now. I might learn some more I should know. |

Calculating the pulldown resistance for a given MOSFET's gate Thank you for your input. I have the deepest respect of your knowledge, but everything else in electronics id seemingly so precise mathematically (even something as simple as Ohm's law) it just seems this should be as well. Maybe I'm expecting too much; but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. |

12VDC power supply question Better to get a supply capable of supplying in excess of 750mA than looking for a "dual" supply. |

12VDC power supply question 12V * .750A = 9W exactly as hassan89 said. It follows you will have the problems he mentioned when > "Sometimes they will" both be on. |

What is / how can I get a student-safe power supply for electronics projects? "Have policies that if they break something, they have to pay for it." Their parent(s) have to pay for it. I would have a parental permission sheet to take the course and to spell out what exactly is the behavior the student will be required to demonstrate along with the above 'break it/pay for it' sentence. Not an unreasonable requirement for a grade school student in an after school program. Also Thank You for taking the time to do this. |
