comment Cannot find SMD resistors in Altium
You can try circuithub.com - its a little buggy since I last used it but it could be better now. I believe it was made by a member here, DrFriedParts I believe.

comment Why do capacitors lose capacitance in series?
I don't know what 'standard' values for Er, A and d are, but lets just use the following. Er=2.6, E0=8.85e-12, A=1 and d = 1. If we use these values, C = 2.30e-11 Farads. If you use the series capacitance equation for two 2.30e-11 Farad capacitors, you get 1.15e-11 Farads (half of the capacitance as expended). All is good. If you use the equation in what I presented, and change d=2, you also get 1.15e-11 Farads. Ie. running caps in series, is the same as increasing their plate separation.

comment Question about soldering
@NickHalden lol i didnt take your comment as an attack. kthxbai is something i say, it wasnt to be 'snarky'. While mechanical stress can undo a cold solder joint, i find it unlikely that op will be doing anything like that right now. Perhaps later in life, and learning to solder on a forum is not the way. Practice and making mistakes is the way to do it! So yes, there were assumptions on my part ( i dont think im wrong), but what you present is also plausible. OP can practice, make mistakes and learn the right way :) kthxbai lol

comment Question about soldering
OP asked how to solder a wire. That is a way. Its not, stick it in, and let go. OP didn't specify that that he's never soldered before, and has some perhaps through hole experience. He's obviously never had experience with these types of pads and putting solder on , and soldering the pad and placing a wire in it (since the iron is still on the pad), is fine because it will also heat the wire. I also tell him to check his join with a continuity check. kthxbai.

comment Color code for DB-9 Connecter
you probably didnt connect the leads to the pins or wires good enough. It happens to me too sometimes. Check your meter by touch the leads on itself, and see if you get what you expect. If not, then its your meter. If your meter is good, then connect one lead to to a random wire and then slide the other lead across the pins.

You can always take a meter and do a continuity test from your wires to pins.

comment what type of electronics job would combine mathematics, electronic design and programming into one
After graduation I worked in control systems testing the controls for various aircraft systems. No math. No design. Basic programming (script writing). Then I got another job to do some hardware stuff. But because the company was smaller, I had to put on a math, design, and programming hat. As @Andyaka said there is no type of job that does that but a smaller company will give you more hats to wear than a large company.

comment Microcontrollers - Beginner questions
Any motor really. Each motor has to be controlled, and depending on the motor, that can vary between models, types, etc.. Once you know how the motor is controlled, you would have to create a circuit ( a microcontroller alone is not good enough), that interfaces your microcontroller to the motor.
