For BJTs (bipolar junction transistors - that is, not MOSFETs) what you need to supply is base current, rather than voltage. But it's generally easier to control voltage and resistance, so that's how you do it. | |

So we want Vce to be as small as possible because we don't want a big voltage drop across our transistor correct? And in order to put a transistor into saturation we have to apply enough voltage at the base? | |
