Feb 12, 2019 at 4:28 comment added D.A.S. The protection must withstand withstand ESD and EFT tests to be IEC compliant on environmental disturbances. Not a good design to have shunt TVS unless it insulated and is shielded or on a ground plane then why bother with TVS
Feb 12, 2019 at 3:26 comment added user105652 Do you understand that TVS diodes have a sharp clamp voltage much like zener diodes? 40 volts forced across a 36 volt TVS diode would burn it up quickly.
