I need to know what is the correct power supply for fallowing light dimmer circuit that operate by 230V/50Hz AC supply.
It should be neutral(N) to MT1 or live(L) to MT1? If can use both, what is the most suitable and what are the reasons for that?

YES ! MT-1 Does indeed go to Neutral and MT-2 to L1 otherwise the Triac will not trigger properly. Another thing is always switch the load on the Neutral side, if it was connected to L1 then the load in question will always be energized which is a direct hazard you do not need. this is not opinion it is facts. Also if the load has inductance please use RC snubber circuit with Triac and an Inductor in line.
