I am thinking about building a cnc router with an ebay 400w spindle and the motor of choice. My question is, will any significant high voltage surge be created by the motor that could possibly fry a regulated power supply such as a psu? If so, is there a way to prevent this from happening?

  • \$\begingroup\$ What type of motor? What sort of speed control? \$\endgroup\$ – Andy aka Feb 10 '18 at 11:03
  • \$\begingroup\$ It's a brushed 400w motor controlled by a variable speed pwm controller. \$\endgroup\$ – Scrapper Feb 10 '18 at 11:49
