I am putting together an electrical control panel composed of small VFDs (like Siemens micromaster 440), PLC AB 1400 B etc, contactors, relays etc.

What temperature and humidity should I design the cooling system inside the cabinet to provide?

    \$\begingroup\$ Obviously, the only definitive answer can be found by examining the datasheets for everything that's in the cabinets. Generally, cooler is better in terms of equipment life, but you do need to pay attention to things like relative humidity. It becomes a question of how much power you're willing to spend on cooling vs. the other costs of running and maintaining the equipment. \$\endgroup\$ – Dave Tweed Jan 28 at 14:23

    \$\begingroup\$ Mounting equipment like VFDs inside another enclosure is quite complex. Unless considerable extra cabinet volume and/or very conservative forced ventilation is provided, a detailed analysis of the design is required. A VFD manufacturer would remove the outer enclosure of the VFD and evaluate the cooling of individual component parts for adequate cooling. \$\endgroup\$ – Charles Cowie Jan 28 at 14:41
