I am going to make two prototype boards with the same functionality but using different components.
For the first prototype board, my question is related to this topic. The imaging sensors I'll use have a sub-LVDS output and I have to convert them to CSI-2. To convert the output, I can use a MachXO3 or I believe a Crosslink.
The first question I have at this moment is: is this FPGA solution the only solution?
The sensor I will choose can either have 8 or 16 differential pair outputs. As seen here, the FPGA requires up to ~2500 LUTs to convert the signal. The product selector guide from Lattice shows the different amount of LUTs per chip (for example, LCMXO3LF-4300 has 4300 LUTs). I believe I have to choose a chip that supports at least the minimum amount of LUTs as shown in the webpage above.
The second question I have is: If I have to use the MachXO3 to first convert the output, do I have to use one FPGA per sensor or can I use one FPGA with enough LUTs to convert multiple sensors?
The third question is: Can I use the Crosslink to convert the sub-LVDS sigals? This would pretty much solve the mystery of syncing the frames as this chip is designed to do that.
Lastly from this part, I read in the related topic that the software may or may not be free to use and I am not sure if I'd have to fully develop the converter myself or that Lattice provides the chip with premade software which we can upload on it.
If there is an alternative to this solution, I'd like to know.
