I am quite new to electronics, so I apologise for the inevitable mass of stupidity in this question. I am trying to find the data sheet for the LCD driver MAX8918ITM, from a Nikon COOLPIX L110, and it doesn’t seem to exist. The only data sheet link on Digikey is to a parts numbering PDF, but none about the actual IC.

Here is a picture of the IC:

  • \$\begingroup\$ Email someone at Maxim, they should be able to get you a copy of the datasheet. \$\endgroup\$ – Hearth Jun 16 at 0:03
  • \$\begingroup\$ From what I can gather, that's not an LCD driver. It seems to have something to do with reading the CCD - the part that makes photos rather than the part that shows images. \$\endgroup\$ – JRE Jun 16 at 0:18

\$\begingroup\$ I don't see any data on the MAX8918, even with my Maxim insider privilege level (I work at Maxim Integrated as a corporate applications engineer). The only trace of it having ever existed is the product discontinuation notice at the distributor digikey. Based on the ancient logo, this part has not been manufactured since 2012 (or earlier). Given that this part came out of an OEM digital camera, it may be a part we once made for Nikon and no longer make. (My guess is that NDA restrictions prevent us from selling this product or publishing its datasheet.) \$\endgroup\$ – MarkU Jun 16 at 0:27

\$\begingroup\$ @MarkU can you make that an answer rather than a comment? \$\endgroup\$ – pericynthion Jun 16 at 0:36
  • \$\begingroup\$ @MarkU: I second that. The fact that there are parts without a public datasheet out there is worth an answer. (We know it, but it's far from common knowledge, it seems.) \$\endgroup\$ – Janka Jun 16 at 0:39
