I have created a footprint for an SMA-Connector like this: SMA-Connector

The footprint looks like this:

There are 3 SMD-Pads on the Bottom Layer and 2 SMD-Pads on the Top. The SMDs on the outside overlap with each other but are on different layers, yet when I add it to a board-design and running the DRC, I get one error for each side, stating that there is an overlap. Error Message

Is it not possible to put an SMD at the same position on the top as well as the bottom layer? I thank you all in advance for the help and hope I made my problem clear.

  • \$\begingroup\$ I don't think it is complaining about overlap with the top/bottom layers, it looks like it is concerned that your pads on the same layer are touching. Instead of using different pads on the top/bottom to achieve the shape, you should use custom shaped pads instead. You also shouldn't be defining a pad that is the shape of the non-pad part that doesn't touch the board. Use an outline for that. \$\endgroup\$ – Ron Beyer Sep 16 '19 at 12:30
