Equipment: Sony Digital Audio Control Center (Digital Cinema Sound) Model No: STR-KG700

Problem: High Pitch Buzzing coming from speaker output and headphone output (when plugged in).

I have tried:

  1. Changing wall power sources (no difference in sound)
  2. Unplugging all connections except for the speakers on the back of the receiver (no change in sound)
  3. Changing speakers did nothing (I didn't think it would have made a difference but I tried anyway)
  4. Plugging in headphones (the high frequency sound then comes through the headphones)
  5. Gently smacking and pressing on the amp siding (no change in volume of the noise)

I am unsure how to diagnose circuit boards, other than by looking for visible burns or wire shorts.

If someone could please point me in a direction to test next.

Thank you

  • \$\begingroup\$ Welcome :-) However, a repair question on a piece of consumer electronics and without having relevant experience, is not a good fit on this site (see this meta discussion & also see the help center). I have tried to help several people with similar questions on here, but quite often we don't succeed due to things like the lack of a schematic diagram, or their lack of required test equipment, or just communication problems since they have to do everything, because I don't have their device on my bench. Sorry & good luck with the repair. \$\endgroup\$ – SamGibson Oct 17 at 14:29
