I'm trying to understand the switch mechanism on sleeve of this jack - I can't work out what it is.

Specifically:

3 is sleeve, 4 is sleeve switch

But what is operation? Is the sleeve switch N/O and connected to sleeve through the jack inserted?

Part is pj-327a5-smt. https://datasheet.lcsc.com/szlcsc/1903151105_XKB-Enterprise-PJ-327A0-SMT_C381135.pdf

\$\begingroup\$ I wouldn't want to guess - if you have the jack in hand, use an ohmmeter to determine the operation. \$\endgroup\$ – Peter Bennett Dec 15 '19 at 1:29

\$\begingroup\$ my guess is that pin 4 is not connected to anything until a plug is inserted, then it will be connected to the plug sleeve ... i do not think that it contacts pin 3 directly (insulated plug sleeve will prevent connection between pin 4 and pin 3) \$\endgroup\$ – jsotola Dec 15 '19 at 1:50
