I am trying to bias the power amplifier QPA1022. I am planning to bias this amplifier by fixed gate voltage and pulsed drain voltage. For this I am using MABC-001000-DP000L for the same.

I am unable to interpret from the datasheet whether this amplifier can be supplied with pulsed drain voltage.

There is mention of some "pulse width = 100uS" in test conditions. Is this the ON and OFF time for the Drain voltage ?

  • \$\begingroup\$ Why use the switch backwards? Pulsed are best applied to gate \$\endgroup\$ – Tony Stewart Sunnyskyguy EE75 Aug 14 at 4:54

  • \$\begingroup\$ You should strobe the input OFF if required. Gating the power could produce sideband noise when the voltage drops. The IC and board MUST follow manufacture design suggestions. \$\endgroup\$ – user105652 Aug 14 at 5:47
  • \$\begingroup\$ @VTNCaGNtdDVNalUy I will follow the specified biasing up and down procedure on the datasheet \$\endgroup\$ – MightyBeard007 Aug 14 at 6:38
  • \$\begingroup\$ Switching the drain has no gain. Pulse specs always switch the gate On \$\endgroup\$ – Tony Stewart Sunnyskyguy EE75 Aug 14 at 12:13
