My colleague and I had an argument about whether or not to use bootlace ferrules for a load-cell (4 stranded wires + 1 shield | 100mg precision | OIML C3 | max. 3kg) going into an amplifier (spring-type terminal | including shield.)

Is there a general or personal recommendation in regard of precision whether or not to use bootlace ferrules on wires of sensors (like load-cells) providing analogue non-amplified signal?

  • \$\begingroup\$ Ferrules help with wire strain relief and connection reliability. I don't see how that would affect the electrical performance of the circuit, unless there were some sub mV scale issues I'm not aware of. \$\endgroup\$
