Hi I have a setup that I'm really going to simplify:

I have two questions about this setup:

  1. Why do I only measure 3V volts across the ground wire when I put 5 in?
  2. Is this proper grounding? I had issues before with this and the motor is definitely not getting the power it needs. I know its not an issue with the power supply because I got this power supply to work before, I just forgot how. I strongly suspect something is not grounded right.

  • \$\begingroup\$ As it is now, the 12V and 5V supplies are shorted together. Please don't simplify, show the whole circuit. \$\endgroup\$

  • \$\begingroup\$ Also, when you say you " measure 3V volts across the ground wire " please show the two points you're measuring. \$\endgroup\$

  • \$\begingroup\$ @ErikR I put my multimeter between the GND of the motor driver and the 3 wries junction at the ottom \$\endgroup\$
