I am designing a PCB based on the AD7779 ADC from AD. Unlike the other EEG specific chip I worked with (ADS1299), the AD IC only works with an external clock (the internal clk is only used on power up with the registers). I am planning on feeding in a 8.192 MHz master clock source, but I am not sure which of the crystal oscillator or a CMOS based clock generator would be the better option? am I correct in assuming the main benefit of the CMOS would be stability over the crystal but probably bigger PCB footprint? I might also in the future use 2 of these ADCs in daisy mode (connected together).
