Questions tagged [ribbon-cable]

Ribbon cable has multiple insulated wires bonded together and running parallel to each other. Because the wires run across a flat plane they tend to be wide and flat resembling a ribbon hence the name. Ribbon cables are often designed to be used in conjunction with insulation-displacement connectors (IDC).
