A piezo buzzer contains a piezoelectric element combined with an in-built oscillator / driver to produce an audible sound. While the output frequency is fixed using them is as simple as applying a DC voltage within the specified range.

Can I safely remove the buzzer from a Philips air purifier?
I can now add an empirical answer to this - I've removed the piezo disc, and everything seems to be working fine so far, totally silenced.

Can I safely remove the buzzer from a Philips air purifier?
