What and Why's of termination?
Your answer has differed from the video lecture given by Mr.Shive, Bell laboratories on the topic of 'Similarities of Wave Behaviour'. Especially the two points. 1. Electrical wave behavior of Free end and 2. Electrical wave behavior of shorted end. Kindly explain it.

SPI modes of data transfer
Thanks for the answer. I have been thinking while regarding any technical reasons behind this 4 modes feature. But I could not find any other appropriate reason. If you @justme find any other more appropriate reason, kindly update this answer any time.

Pointer to array gets highest bit toggled by ... compiler? (dsPIC33EP & XC16)
@RaphaelB.No, it's not. Even though dspic33 is a 16-bit system, you only allocate 8 bit for that pointer.

One of the two brown wires to my shower isolator switch is not live. What has caused this please?
Try to create a simple wiring diagram for better understanding and to resolve the problem quickly. Merely showing wiring image won't help indeed.

image_timer3_rawDataPtr's value is out of the boundary of the datatype unsigned char it seems. Is it ok?
