May 20, 2011 at 6:10 comment added Hitesh @Toybuilder the scanner I am planning to use consumes just 20mA of power (at 4.5V). Do you think this can be managed from the headphone jack or do I have to provide an external power source?
May 19, 2011 at 20:16 comment added Toybuilder I would be a bit concerned about the availability of power. I suspect that the square needs far less current than an image sensor running fast enough to read fingerprint features.
May 19, 2011 at 13:50 comment added Code Painters @Kellenjb Same here, I'm primarily a software developer, feeling much more comfortable in the digital world, yet for this particular thing analog way looks tempting :)
May 19, 2011 at 13:05 comment added Kellenjb @Czajnik I have found that purely analog based methods tend to be harder to design and get working then digital. It is all where your comfort zone is though.
May 19, 2011 at 12:54 comment added Code Painters If one-way communication is the only requirement perhaps it could be simpler to use some FSK modulator (based on NE555 perhaps?) and demodulate in software?
