If I understand rightly NOT gates inverts the input.

when the input is "ON" I can imagine the gate stopping the flow of current.

But how does the gate generates flow of current when the input is OFF.

Sorry if I have grossly misunderstood something. Electronics is not my subject, so can you please explain in as simple terms as possible.
