How does a NOT gate generatesgenerate power?

If I understand rightlyknow that a NOT gatesgate always inverts theits input.

whenWhen the input is "ON" I can imagine the gate stopping the flow of current.

But how does the gate generates flow of current when the input is OFF.?

Sorry if I have grossly misunderstood something. Electronics is not my subject, so canPlease could you please explain inhow this happens as simple termssimply as possible., I'm new to electronics ;)
