Mar 21, 2017 at 20:22 comment added Bruce Abbott " When any of these single wires are removed, nothing operates" - this would not happen if the wires just went directly to the switches (since there should be no difference between an open switch and an open wire going to it). You would have to disassemble the switch box and modify the internal switch wiring...
Mar 21, 2017 at 17:48 comment added JayGross2209 @StainlessSteelRat got it, thanks! So no, there was no labeling on the motor. There was an "installed by" label on the frame, but when I called, they only take the parts and build it, they don't get into the circuitry or anything. So after the power source, I'm not quite sure which wire is what.

Mar 21, 2017 at 13:30 comment added JayGross2209 StainlessSteelRat, I had tried to find a name plate or schematic of some sort, but couldn't find it. Nothing really on the motor but I can check again.

Mar 21, 2017 at 11:35 comment added JayGross2209 Bruce, yes there is a handheld controller with UP and DOWN momentary switch buttons. Inside the controller are 4 wires in this order, BLACK-WHITE-BROWN-RED. These wires are connected to screw terminals. When any of these single wires are removed, nothing operates. These same wires are also accessed from the small junction box connected to the motor.
Mar 21, 2017 at 3:59 comment added Bruce Abbott So there are two buttons, each making the motor go in the opposite direction, right? Do you have access to the individual wires from each button?
