These generators are replaced by short circuit or open circuit, respectively.
Jun 17, 2020 at 13:42 comment added AJN When we were taught solving circuits using Laplace txform, we first transformed the capacitor (or inductor) into a capacitor with zero initial voltage and a voltage source connected in series (inductor with current source in parallel). You have effectively found the impedance of a compound device which is a combination of a capacitor (with zero initial voltage) in series with a voltage source (representing the initial charge). Jun 17, 2020 at 13:28 comment added AJN Are the square brackets in the first equation correct ? the LHS is volts. the RHS has a term \$ v_C (0) * 1/C\$ which doesn't have the units of volts.
