A few: Layout critical aspects may vary between the two versions. | The uC may be being reset by power supply spikes or induced voltages or program interactions. | What changes did you make to cause the dot board to now work? | Have you got beyond necessary power supply filtering on uC, protection against over voltage on drive lines, no supply dropout.
