Standards (WiFi or LTE) specify the nature of the interference ( frequency offset, power level, modulation) , the challenge is to be able receive the signal of interest at sensitivity level in the presence of an interferer ( with a 3 dB hit) . ( LNA +mixer) need to take the hit in terms of linearity while providing maximum gain . After down downconversion the interferer gets knocked down by low pass filter(s). AGC is about the signal of interest, the goal is a constant optimal power level at the ADC input | |
