I would like to build one capable of different battery sizes ranging from 1V-12V. The product shown in the YouTube video appears to work for barrel flat top cells, but the batteries I have are block packaged. If I was to use the smart charger shown, and solder extension terminals to work with my block cell, would that work? Thank you | |

I’ve checked the internal resistance of a few batteries and have determined that the good ones charge to max 4.14V, having an internal resistance of 56m, and provide the full runtime. A bad battery charged to 4.10V, but gave an internal resistance of 83m. I can see that the trend is any battery of lot 75m or higher is no good. I am looking more into detail on what exact internal resistance impacts performance… | |

If I place it in the pack, then I can test how long it takes to discharge, therefor knowing the hour differences between batteries. I have about 200 batteries so this method is rather slow. I also own different batteries of different voltages, so the goal is to sort between the good and the bad batteries. Finding an applicable method to apply to different battery sizes for sorting the bad from the good. | |

They make inexpensive battery testers that will fully charge a lithium, discharge it and tell you the watt-hour results. Since the question is about rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, not primary lithium batteries, I changed the tag to the correct one. Also added a space between value & units (e.g. 3.10 V) per ISO 80000-1 & best practice for readability.
