Power supply requirements for laptop LCD brakebreak-out

I bought (off e-bay) an LCD brake outbreak-out board HDMI thing for a macbook 17" lcdLCD display iI harvested.

The seller has said repeatedly iI need a 12v 4a12V 4A power supply for it, and there is even a photo of a lab bench power supply with an xX through it.

They really seam to mean it, and they would know iI guess.

4a4A seams like a lot, and why not a lab bench power supply?

anyAny ideas or experience?
