Dec 11, 2013 at 0:22 | comment | added | alex.forencich | Well, you won't get a ground loop with GND signal GND through a ribbon cable because the grounds should all be connected to each other on both ends of the cable. The shielding GND connections are a little more tricky. If a signal is DC referenced to the shield, then you have to directly connect the sheild to the system ground. Otherwise, you may be able to get away with a floating connection. I have seen a number of circuits that will connect e.g. the USB connector shield to system GND via a 1M ohm resistor in parallel with a 1 uF capacitor. | |
