Dec 11, 2013 at 0:22 comment added alex.forencich Well, you won't get a ground loop with GND signal GND through a ribbon cable because the grounds should all be connected to each other on both ends of the cable. The shielding GND connections are a little more tricky. If a signal is DC referenced to the shield, then you have to directly connect the sheild to the system ground. Otherwise, you may be able to get away with a floating connection. I have seen a number of circuits that will connect e.g. the USB connector shield to system GND via a 1M ohm resistor in parallel with a 1 uF capacitor.

Dec 11, 2013 at 0:18 comment added Leo My concern about GND SIGNAL GND is ground loop! Should I connect the POWER GND (5V main one) to both board and connect the "shielding" GND just to the core board or there will be no influence connething all GND to both board?
