Consider this youTube video where the video shows a representation of a person's bare feet and how their body mass is distributed across their feet and how their feet are moving to different positions on two compared surfaces as they shift their feet while standing relatively statically. What are some economical solutions for gathering this data? The solution must be a relatively transparent way to gather the data in that the measuring device may be overlaid upon a surface that we wish to measure without significantly impacting the feel, shape of the surface to be measured. (In the above video, they had a contoured surface that was spongy and a fixed flat floor surface.)
There are a bunch of medical solutions that are very pricey (such as this $10K+ Go-Tec pressure plate sensor or this Tekscan in shoe monitor) and meant for podiatrists. I also found this ~$500 Arduino platform called snowboard (see base sensor here), but it appears somewhat complex to adopt this solution. Are there any other solutions that may not entail such complexity? Bottom line is looking for an inexpensive solution (like the Arduino one above) that is relatively easy to get up and running to collect data without the need to write software, build new hardware, etc. Perhaps I'm mistaken and the above Arduino solution is not too hard to adopt?
