Change the rotation of single-phase (split-phase induction motor)
-After stopping and starting again, do I need to change the connections to the starting winding , so that the motor can run in opposite direction? Centrifugal switch can connect and disconnect the starting winding but it can't change its connection, isn't it?

Self Inductance Of the Coil
After referring certain books, I have come to the following conclusion : self-inductance is the property of the coil due to which it opposes any increase or decrease of current ( which produces flux) through it. If self-inductance is reduced, this implies that now the opposition to the current is less i.e. in less time the current can become steady through the coil.

Back EMF of a DC motor
Can you please explain this - the electrical energy supplied to overcome this opposition (back emf ) is converted into mechanical energy.

Back EMF of a DC motor
When voltage is applied to the armature winding, the rotor of the motor starts to rotate because of the force experienced by the armature conductors. Now I have another confusion- then how can we say that back emf is necessary for the mechanical output?
