Mar 7, 2023 at 16:28 comment added user319836 The + and - symbols on the photodiode are backwards. Actually diode labels if needed should be A and K. The polarity of the diode voltage is circuit dependent.

Mar 7, 2023 at 15:36 comment added Andy aka You say LEDs but, I only see one LED (TX). I don't know why RX is shown as an LED when it's used as a photodiode. This is why we use symbols in schematics; to indicate functionality. The BJT needs a base resistor. Does touching the doorbell remove a block between TX and Rx or, does it introduce one? Maybe it works by IR reflection somehow?
