I am an electrical engineer who has been playing around with electricity (and later electronics) since I was six years old and received a Lionel electric train set for Christmas that year. I spent the first part of my career as an electronics technician, first maintaining a dual-radar imaged Ku-band fire-control system for the 20mm Gatling gun that is part of the defensive armament on the B-52H heavy bomber. Later I worked as an electronics technician for the University of Dayton Research Institute while I pursued a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree. After graduating in 1978, I went to work for a small business that supported the intelligence and reconnaissance community with ground-truth instrumentation, digital image display systems, and micro-densitometry scans of aerial film, among other things. I am semi-retired now and maintain and operate a small 1.7 megavolt tandem particle accelerator for a small business that does mostly government work. I lurk around in forums like these in my spare time trying to be helpful if I can.
