MAX608 boost converter stopped working, the OUT pin is shorted to ground
@JRE I am a bit suspicious of this chip, I have tried many other chips before on pref boards and breadboards before soldering them on the final PCB. It seems Maxim has built quite a reputation on faulty chips, and since this one is an evaluation kit It could be expected. But it’s soon to judge. I’ll wait until I get a few other chips and try them both on pref board and PCB and inspect them under load.

@JRE I wasn't expecting to reproduce the exact output as the data sheet suggested. Nor I was expecting it to be ideal or perfect. I was just testing the suggested layout, and I think It is reasonable to try it first on a prototype board, and see if It can be customized to some extent before deciding on a final PCB design.

@Bimpelrekkie yes, I understand that there are parasitic capacitances, inductees and resistances, and I am not expecting a DC-DC convertor to be perfect on a prototype board, even if I try to keep the connections as short as possible within the boundaries of a prototype board. But I expect reasonable output with in the limitations of a prototype. and I still have to test the circuit on a prototype board first, before printing the final circuit board.

@Bimpelrekkie I did as you suggested and it turns out the there is a resistance around 40 ohms between the OUT and GND pin. But I'm still not sure if it is really supposed to be that way; I couldn't find anything about this in the data sheet.

What is the ideal way to handle data pins D+ and D- on a USB power adapter to be compatible with fast charging on devices?
Your opinion against apple is biased, from a Samsung aka defacto Android device user point of view Apple's are incompatible bad kids that don't want to play fair just like you said, whiles from an Apple iOS device user point of view the opposite is true, Apple devices just happen to be in the minority, if they were the Majority, people probably would have been more biased towards Apple. These devices are essentially just different ways of accomplishing same goals. And biasing one against the other is meaningless.
